Placement

Placement on one of LWAD's Competitive Teams is based on the following criteria: technique, potential, commitment level, enthusiasm, attitude, behavior in class, attendance and stage presence. We place students together in groups that we feel will work best together in rehearsals and performances. Team members are selected by instructors and will be invited into the appropriate class and performances.

Attendance & Time Commitment

We take pride in fostering teamwork, and each dancer is a vital part of the team. Just as sports teams require attendance, our dancers must attend all classes and rehearsals to ensure the success of the group. Absences affect both the individual and the team.

Absence Policy:

Up to 3 unexcused absences allowed from team classes/rehearsals.
Excused Absences (with prior approval):
- Family death
- School programs/performances required for credit
- Weddings or religious events
- Serious illness/infectious condition

Additional Guidelines:

Injured or mildly ill dancers must still attend and observe rehearsals.
All absences and tardies must be communicated and approved by the director; otherwise, they will be marked as unexcused.
Two tardies = 1 unexcused absence.
Missing more than 5 of any one class per season may result in dismissal from performances.
Attendance in all classes the week before performances/competitions is mandatory.

Being part of the dance team requires commitment and personal accountability. If other activities or scheduling conflicts arise, please reconsider joining Company One.

Team Fees

Fees and Requirements Before Starting:

Dancer’s account must be at a zero balance from the previous year.
All summer team commitments must be fulfilled.

Company One Team:

$125 Monthly Class Fee: Tap, Ballet, Hip Hop Technique, and Group Tap, Lyrical, Hip Hop rehearsals (weekly).
One-Time Competition and Costume Fee: TBD.

Ensemble:

$100 Monthly Class Fee: Tap, Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop Technique, and Group Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop rehearsals (weekly).
One-Time Competition and Costume Fee: TBD.

Precision:

$60 per month for technique per style (Tap, Ballet, Hip Hop, Jazz).
$50 per month for group choreography rehearsal per style.
Competition and Costume Fees:
- $85 per large/small group competition.
- $80 per costume per dance.

Solo/Duo/Trio:

$175 per competition, $300 choreography fee (split for duos/trios).
$45 monthly practice fee.
Additional guest choreographer fees as applicable.

Additional Fees:

National competition fees (odd years) and convention fees (annually) will be provided in advance.
Hip Hop-only dancers receive separate billing. Contact Wilson for details.

All dancers must attend one fall dance convention annually. Scholarships will be applied to the dancer’s account.

Attire

Dress Code:

Proper dance attire and neat hair (pulled back off face and neck) are required at all times.
Appropriate dance shoes must be worn in class. Change into dance shoes upon arrival—no outdoor use.
Warm-ups may be worn during barre/warm-up at the teacher’s discretion.

Jazz:

Leotard or dance camisole (any style/color)
Jazz pants, capris, shorts, or leggings with tights
Tan jazz shoes
Hair pulled back in a neat, low ponytail

Tap:

Leotard or dance camisole (any style/color)
Jazz pants, capris, shorts, or leggings with tights
Black tap shoes
Hair pulled back in a neat, low ponytail

Hip Hop:

Comfortable clothing or dancewear
Dance sneakers or athletic shoes (no street shoes)
Separate tennis shoes specifically for hip hop
Hair pulled back, neat, and secure

Finnacial Commitment

Tuition varies based on the number of classes. All Dance Company members must attend a weekly technique class and rehearsals.

LWAD Competition Team members attend 3 regional competitions annually, plus 1 convention in even years and 1 National Dance Competition in odd years.

Overnight or weekend travel may be required, with additional expenses.

Drop-Out Policy:

Dancers are responsible for any unpaid fees. A $250 fee applies for drop-outs to cover re-choreography, routine changes, and competition updates

.Additional Performances:

Competitive members may participate in other performances, which may have additional fees depending on the event.
